Welcome to the Lammas June Newsletter.

"We learned to do what only the student of nature learns, and that was to feel beauty. We never railed at the storms, the furious winds, and the biting frosts and snows. To do so intensified human futility, so whatever came we adjusted ourselves, by more effort and energy if necessary, but without complaint."

Ecovillage news

A cold spring has given way to a changeable summer, and a flurry of activity including guided tours, courses and parties. Our recent celebration of meeting our 5 year planning targets and completing the hub build was attended by local villagers who made this card for us:

Research Project

Lammas has just published another research paper -

'Seeing Beyond Looking' by Rhys Thomas

It is a time to think anew, a time to express anew, a time to relate. This study is a piece auto-ethnographical / biographical research into the lives of people living in a Low Impact Eco-Village in Pembrokeshire, Wales. The research has led me to reflect not solely on the place of low impact development in Wales, but also the relation of such lifestyle paradigms on notions of the domestic and inter-nationa political spheres. How we understand national narratives in a world of inherent connectivity, it is, then, an exploration of our body and eco-system – how we interact and sense the world.

There will be an exhibition on the project in the Community Hub on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th September

Local Community Opportunity - Temple Druid:

We are holding an “Open Day” on June 20th for potential new members to meet us and have a tour of the house and land.
There will be a morning session and an afternoon session for interested parties to join.
We are in the initial stages of purchasing Temple Druid which is set in 56 acres of woodland, pasture, steams and meadows and we are looking for members to join us in creating a community based on the foundations of compassion and respect for nature, ourselves and others and a strong wish to tread gently on the earth. We imagine that our community will eventually consist of 8-10 permanent households – families, couples or individuals – as well as having room for people who want to rent and or volunteer.
During this first stage we are hoping for new members with capital to contribute to the significant pot of money we already have to invest in the community so we can secure the purchase of the property. If you are interested have a look around our website to find our more about who we are, our progress and our dream.
We would like to invite potential new community members the opportunity to visit Temple Druid and meet the community. There will be a tour of the grounds, a question and answer session and time for a picnic with us.
To book please email info@templedruid.org or fill in a contact form on our Events page http://www.templedruid.org/events/
